Do you stop and notice what is around you? Do you take time to see the little things that make life more romantic? People often say, “Stop and smell the roses.” I have been thinking about what that really means in my own life. There are a lot of questions we can ask ourselves as we journey along the romantic way.
I have often noticed how one small flower, singled out for attention on an otherwise dreary or routine day, brings so much joy to my soul and brightening of my mood. Seeing that tiny, perfect, living thing, fighting its way up through the soil and into the light is such an encouragement.
Somehow seeing the huge impact that one little flower can make in my day, I find hope in myself that somehow, by just being me and reaching for the sky, I will make a difference in someone's life today. You can make a difference too. Stop and smell the roses today!
A Single Flower
Holly
When did you appear,
perfect in beauty and grace?
One single flower
so delicate and fine,
looking upward at
the smile on God's face.
Do you understand
the wonder you are?
How each petal and leaf
form a whole,
that silently, quietly
breaks up the ground
bringing life to
the heart and the soul.
As you journey along the romantic way, take time to notice the simple things, the small things that make such a difference in how we view life. When was the last time you stopped to notice how a happy little child was skipping down the sidewalk? Did you notice how they were hopping and skipping along with total abandon, not at all worried what other people might think of them, not at all concerned that it might not be appropriate? Romantics are often viewed as being a little odd by those who are too busy to notice that life is passing them by.
I watched out my window the other day as a child danced his way down the sidewalk with his head bouncing from side to side, with a smile on his face as bright as the sun. His parents were following along behind him and they couldn't help but smile too. He was so cheerful that everyone who saw him and his smiling parents couldn't help but join in their joyful mood. I want to be just like that child! How about you? Let's be so full of joy that others will want to join us.
Yours along TheRomanticWay!
